Biography

Early Life and Background

Michael “Mike” Corey, known as Fearless & Far, was born on August 24, 1985, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Growing up in a curious family, his dad, Lee Corey, owned Corey Nutrition Company, and his mom, Jane Corey, nurtured his love for nature. One of four siblings, Mike spent his childhood exploring New Brunswick’s rocky beaches, flipping rocks to find crabs and sea cucumbers, which fueled his fascination with animals. He went to Fredericton High School and later studied at the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Marine Biology. A traumatic moment in grade four, when he was forced to speak publicly about losing his pet hamster, sparked a fear of public speaking, but his early travels, like a solo trip to Indonesia in 2007, helped him conquer it.

Rise to Fame

Mike started his YouTube channel, “Fearless & Far,” on April 11, 2006, but his first major video, “La Tomatina tomato fight festival Spain,” dropped in September 2011. Initially called Kick the Grind, his channel evolved after he backpacked globally for five years, volunteering as a marine research assistant. His 2018 video “Whang-od Tattoo… gone wild? Kalinga tattoo Philippines” went viral, followed by “Catching Baboons with the Hadza People” in 2021, which racked up millions of views. His raw, immersive adventures, like joining Ethiopia’s Hamar tribe or eating with Venezuela’s Warao people, caught fire. Mike’s Instagram (@fearlessandfar) and TikTok grew with wild travel clips, making him a top adventure vlogger.... Show More
